Gokukoku no Brynhildr, BDRip for the whole season.
This project is cooperated with ANK-Raws.

10bit 1080p AVC + FLAC, MKV format. ~1.1GB per EP

Encoding Note

To deliver a high quality, well-balanced BDRip for this project is very challenging. The reason lies with the BD source, of which most of the scenes are covered with strong artificial film grain(see the 1st pair of the screenshots below), and rest with absolutely no grain, but heavy color-banding.(see the 2nd pair)

Rippers need to design one scheme that well coping with two extreme conditions, as well as to balance visual quality, detail retention and bit-rate control.

For this project, we first designed a semi-auto scheme to identify the type of the scenes. If it is of heavy grain, we perform a partial de-grain to remove most of them, but keep the ones in the dark area where human eyes are more sensitive to film grains. This help us to achieve a well-controlled bit-rate(grains are very hard to compress and consume a large amount of bits) while keeping the visual similarity between BD and BDRip. If it is of heavy banding, we perform a de-banding to eliminate the artifacts.

Due to some quality defects of x265, we decided to use x264-10bit for this project.
