There's little to none artifact in the source -- very mild grain and fewer number of original drawings make the file size very small with regular encoding parameters. Therefore, we controlled the power of fixing artifacts to the minimum acceptable level, and other pre-processings aim to keep the original style unchanged as much as possible. Line art shows features of typical bi-linear upscaling, which is visually soft and blurry overall. The main problem is still heavy banding, which is particularly prominent given there are so many dark scenes in this show. There's also visible aliasing in the luma plane, together with ringing in some scenes. To deal with aforementioned issues, we applied strong anti-aliasing to chroma planes and fix chroma shift. We applied relatively strong anti-aliasing to luma plane.
