笨拙之极的上野 / Ueno-san wa Bukiyou / 上野さんは不器用 BDRip 本片我们使用了画质相对较好的日版原盘作为制作源。但由于日版第三卷原盘碟片有坏块，我们针对有坏块的第九集部分画面用 USBD 进行了替换。(参考第七组截图) 日版原盘画质一般，原生分辨率为 720p，大部分时间覆盖了一层静噪，部分场景噪点下面隐藏着色带。我们使用了逆向拉伸重构画面、修复了烂边，并进行了自适应去色带、补偿性锐化、去除了部分噪点并保留了静态噪点以维持整体观感。 We encoded this series mainly using the JPBD because JPBD has a relatively better image quality. However, Vol.3 of the JPBD has severe image damage, thus we replaced them with the same scenes in the USBD. (screenshot pair 7 for reference) The image quality of JPBD is average, with a native resolution of 720p. The image is covered with static noise most of the time, and colour bands hide beneath the noise in some scenes. We adopted rescaling and fixed the dirty edges, then applied adaptive de-banding and compensatory sharpening. The Italian version lacks an offline event video special that is present in the US version. However, considering it's not particularly important, we chose not to include it. The quality of the source is quite decent, with a few scenes even drawn in FHD. The picture is covered with protective noise, and due to insufficient bitrate, there are minor compression artifacts, but no other serious issues. The native resolution is 720p, but the official release used various poor upscaling algorithms, resulting in multiple art styles in the lines: in the first season, there are instances of sharpness with severe aliasing and ringing, while at times, it appears blurry with slight aliasing; the second season, however, is consistently more blurred, sometimes with a lot of fine aliasing and at other times, displaying slight rough aliasing. Both seasons exhibit significant color banding in dark scenes, with the second season being worse. The specifications in the OVAs are incredibly diverse, with various peculiar and mismatched sources—some stretched, some with combings, some repeating, some normal. Furthermore, there are combinations of the aforementioned situations, as well as scaling and editing with combings, which are essentially unsolvable. In terms of PP, we automatically select the descaling and reconstruction process based on real-time analysis results. We adjust the sharpening effects caused by descaling and then apply appropriate filters to remove residual aliasing and ringing, ensuring that the results from various algorithms are as close as possible for a unified art style. Finally, we conduct standard adaptive de-banding, compensatory sharpening, and adaptive denoising. For OVAs, we manually select frames with combings, use field separation, descaling and reconstruction to eliminate combing effects, improve temporal jitter in lines through temporal stabilization, and upscale using filters with strong anti-aliasing effects, as shown in the 4th comparison set. Some scenes exhibits combing sharpening, causing a combing-like halo around the edges, which is quite bizarre and required disassembly to eliminate the halo and then address the combing, as illustrated in the 1st comparison set. In cases where combing scaling prevented descaling, we employed powerful anti-aliasing, line thinning and sharpening, as depicted in the last comparison set. However, the upscaling algorithms for each season are quite variable, which caused the lines with more or less blurring, aliasing and ringing. Through rescaling and slight anti-aliasing, we successfully fixed these issues. Some static endcards feature serious aliasing due to downscaling. We separately adopted a better neural network algorithm to reconstruct these images. The banding issues in each season are also different. The later the season is, the fewer banding issues there are. Fortunately none of it was difficult to fix, and we used an adaptive de-banding method to remove them. Some of the dynamic scenes in the whole series, especially the OP parts, have serious problems such as bad-encoded lines, DCT noise, blocking, etc. We used another neural network algorithm to fix these scenes separately, which can be seen in Screenshots Pair 1 and 6. However, the upscaling algorithms for each season are quite variable, which caused the lines with more or less blurring, aliasing and ringing. Through rescaling and slight anti-aliasing, we successfully fixed these issues. Some static endcards feature serious aliasing due to downscaling. We separately adopted a better neural network algorithm to reconstruct these images. The banding issues in each season are also different. The later the season is, the fewer banding issues there are. Fortunately none of it was difficult to fix, and we used an adaptive de-banding method to remove them. Some of the dynamic scenes in the whole series, especially the OP parts, have serious problems such as bad-encoded lines, DCT noise, blocking, etc. We used another neural network algorithm to fix these scenes separately, which can be seen in Screenshots Pair 1 and 6. The lines display aliasing and bluriness, typical result of a low native resolution and a poor upscaling algorithm used. Aliasing was also observed in the background lines, too. In addition, a few scenes suffer from mild colour banding. We applied descaling and reconstruction, accompanied by anti-aliasing and de-ringing to improve the lines. PP was finalized by using slight de-banding and adaptive de-noising, which reduced a certain amount of dynamic noice to control the bitrate.
