Dragon Ash - The Best of Dragon Ash with Changes Vol. 1 and 2 5 September 2007 With these torrents I have tried to focus more on Japanese musicians and bands that I do not feel are commonly known, particularly to those of us whose exposure to Japanese music comes via other mediums like anime. However, there are some major artists and bands so important that it would feel wrong to not share their music for anyone who has not heard it. And Dragon Ash is one such band.Beginning in 1996 as a collaboration between Sakurai Makoto and “KJ” Kenji Furuya, Dragon Ash was one of the earliest groups to make hip-hop popular. Yet their earliest music is much closer to punk rock. It was always their intention to focus on hip-hop but punk was popular in the mid-90’s, and that created pressure on KJ in particular which brought a punk influence to their first release in 1997: The Day Dragged On. By 1999 Dragon Ash had taken in more members and had enough success—and more importantly the creative control that can come with it—to focus more on their original hip-hop intentions. In that year that had three singles in the top ten of Oricon charts at the same time, and their 1999 album Viva la Revolution debuted at the number one spot, selling a couple million copies along the way. Dragon Ash had cemented themselves as an important fixture in Japanese hip-hop and gained popular for their experimenting with metal, alternative rock, reggae, rap, and other genres.Dragon Ash released this two-disc album, The Best of Dragon Ash with Changes, to celebrate their tenth anniversary. They have since released a few more albums and singles, but for anyone unfamiliar with Dragon Ash this two-disc set is a comprehensive introduction. And even if you’re already a fan this is a great ‘best-of’ sample of Dragon Ash’s first decade that I think any fan would enjoy.

Dazzle Vision - Origin of Dazzle 3 November 2005 The screamo-rock of Dazzle Vision came to the attention of many, particularly in the United States, around 2010 when they released the album To the Next and performed at Sakura-con. But their debut goes back to 2003, cemented in 2005 with the appropriately titled Origin of Dazzle. Dazzle Vision’s music has undergone variations over the years, especially because they did not maintain a consistent line-up for their first seven years, but one constant is vocalist Maiko’s ability to transition seamlessly between a soft, melodic voice and powerfully deep and demonic scream; when describing Maiko’s range I like to compare her to Kyo of Dir en grey. Origin of Dazzle does not contain as much variety as later albums like Crystal Children and Kirari, but it remains one of my favorites and deserves a listen by anyone who is a fan of the whole ‘hard-rock/metal with a female screamo vocalist’ genre.Note: Origin of Dazzle was re-released in 2008, but I don’t own that edition, and honestly I don’t know what the differences are. The second press contains no changes to the track-list as far as I know. If anyone owns the re-release edition I would greatly appreciate knowing what the differences are, so please leave a comment if you happen to know and thank you in advanced to anyone who does so.

This might be right up your alley!Now with an OGG version, featuring perfect looping, unbound by MP3 format limitations!##############DESCRIPTIONA selection of classic FINAL FANTASY XIV 1.XX music, composed almost entirely by the reknown Nobuo Uematsu.It is intended for use with the new FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn, which has changed a lot of FFXIVs score in favor of Masayoshi Sokens music.Echoes of Nostalgia is, as you might have guessed, for players who, for any reason, prefer the original FINAL FANTASY XIVs soundtrack.##############NOTES* The OGG version of this soundtrack has been added, featuring even more accurate looping! However its tracks will probably have fade out like a typical soundtrack, which obviously isnt very effective for tracks that loop. Sure you can grab "Eorzean Frontiers" or "Field/Battle Tracks", but they arent meant for listening in-game and so the tracks fade out, losing some of the immersion.Q2. The PS3 doesnt let me listen to music from the XMB in game!A2. Unfortunately, for PS3 games, its up to the developers of the game to allow listening to music from the HDD, so the balls in Square-Enixs court. Sony has nothing to do with it. Sorry! Yet another pro of playing the PC version! Maybe the PS4 will allow it?Q3. You left out -insert favorite track-!A3. Sorry! I went with the tracks a typical FFXIV player heard most of the time while playing the original version, as well as a few unused or untitled tracks that you can make your own context for. I did my best to cover all the major areas.Q4. A Realm Reborn has some 1.XX music in it anyway!A4. Yes, ARR DOES have some tracks from the original FFXIV as fans have been demanding it. However, some of the way its used doesnt quite sit well with people, so this album was created!Q5. What about .DAT files?A5. While you might be able to replace the .DAT files in ARR, I personally have no experience with DAT mining and decided not to go that route. By all means if you find an effective way to replace the .DATs with music from this album, more power to you!Q6. Who compiled this album??? Who is the character on the cover?A6. A fellow FINAL FANTASY XIV player enlisted with The Maelstrom. Till sea swallows all!~Q7. There seems to be a few milliseconds of silence during the loop for the MP3 version???A7. Ah yes, in some media players this will occur. It seems to be a limitation of the MP3 format. Not to worry, though! If your media player supports the OGG format, please listen to the OGGs instead of the MP3s as the OGG format is unbound by such a limitation! Flawless looping! Yay!Q8. Is this some kind of insult to our beloved Knee-socks SOKEN???A8. Haha! No, not at all! In fact, "Freedom", one of his tracks is a favorite! But the music direction for A Realm Reborn has stirred up quite a discussion and there are far too many people who, frankly, just feel his ARR work doesnt sound like it belongs in a FINAL FANTASY title per se. And because Uematsus work is one of the original XIVs strong points, you can imagine people have been clamoring to have the option to switch between the classic BGM and new BGM in ARR, and unfortunately its a sort of taboo whenever its brought up, thus... the creation of Echoes of Nostalgia!
